Pending Home Sales Rise, Wider Gains Expected

Some improvement is projected for existing-home sales in the months ahead, with broader gains seen by the fourth quarter as buyers take advantage of new provisions provided through the recently passed housing stimulus bill, NAR says. The association's forward-looking pending home sales index in June rose 5.3 percent to 89.0 from a downwardly revised reading of 84.5 in May, but remains 12.3 percent below June 2007 when it stood at 101.4. "The rise in pending home sales was broad-based with all four regions showing gains," says NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun. "This is welcome news because a rise in contract activity is necessary for an overall housing recovery."


J.D. Power and Associates announced July 23 that Prudential Real Estate ranks highest for home seller satisfaction in the 2008 Home Buyer/Seller StudySM.

The inaugural study measured satisfaction of home sellers and buyers with national, full-service real estate firms. Overall satisfaction for the home-selling experience examined four factors: agent, marketing, office and services.*

Among home sellers, Prudential Real Estate achieved a score of 793 on a 1,000-point scale.
